While traveling you glimpsed a variety of ecosystems, and noticed that each one has plants and animals found only in that ecosystem!  Did you realize that each living thing is suited to live in their particular home?

How do plants and animals survive in their ecosystems?

Our thumbs help us do a number of things.  Notice how you use your thumbs to do the following:
  1. write your name
  2. draw a simple picture
  3. tie your shoe

Can you imagine a life without thumbs?  What changes would you have to make?
  1. Lay each of your thumbs flat on your palms.
  2. Ask a friend/adult to tape them to your hands.
  3. Complete the same three activities.

  5. Tweet (#adapt3) how this would be similar to an animal living in a new ecosystem.
